St Bede's Rocks!
Saturday 19th June was the opportunity for all those students with an interest in rock music to play in the school’s first open air rock festival. The event ran for 4 hours and allowed well over 20 different acts the chance to play on either the main stage or in the more intimate atmosphere of the acoustic tent. The sun shone brightly, if intermittently, and the crowd, whose ages ranged from 4 weeks to well over 60, thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of music; Charlie Pullan’s version of George Formby being to St Bede’s Rocks what Rolf Harris was to Glastonbury. With plenty of competitions and a wide range of refreshments, all for a variety of good causes, a great time was had by all. One observer commentated ‘It’s just like Glastonbury without the queues and the mud!’
Congratulations to all the performers who included Cell , Triple Pringle, We Killed Voldemort, Acoustic Overdrive, Alice and Gabby, Sidony Taylor, Kelly and Jules, Ed Stokes, Paris Charles, Rupert and Olivia, Charlie Pullen, Haunting at a Queen, Neverending Weekend, India Brown, Dan Gottlieb, Olivia Bohac, Alex Brent, Lee Sattin, Beth Honeyball, Nikita Leys, Stephen Johnson, Hennie Kaye, Pierd de Camel, Dixie Tanyas, The Eyes, U6 Btecs. Our thanks go to the Music Tech Dept for their work on the sound system. All profits from the sale of tickets will go to the Ghana Education Project
