St Bede's Rocks
Pupils, friends, parents and teachers rocked out at St Bede’s Prep School recently when the School held their first open air rock festival St Bede’s Rocks. The Friends of St Bede’s were on hand to offer a thirst quenching bar and a tasty bbq of burgers and hotdogs. Much to the children’s (and adults!) delight there was also an ice-cream van on site.
The sun shone brightly as the crowds gathered around the marquee to hear the opening act the Year 8 band The Split Arrows. The band rocked the crowd with Ivan Friedman on drums, James Cuxson on lead guitar, Sam Hannah on rhythm guitar and Alex Ball on base guitar. Joining the band for a reunion performance on vocals was former Prep School student Sally-Ann Wilde who has now moved up to the Senior School.
After a fantastic performance from The Split Arrows of You’ve got the Love, Many of Horror and The Zephyr Song it was time for the Senior Schools BTEC musicians to take to the stage. Stepping up first were the L6th BTEC musicians Henny Kaye and Lee Sattin who belted out amazing performances of Wonderful World, After Midnight and Valerie.
With toes tapping and heads swaying from side to side the last act of the evening, the U6th BTEC band, took to the stage. Louis Buzuk, Larah Charlesworth, Peter Butler-Way, Nick Dunne and Olivia Bohac ended the evening on a high with fantastic performances of I Wish, Proud Mary and Forget You. A mention must also go to our talented musicians who are not part of the BTEC group but who ably assisted our BTEC bands on the night: Charlie Petherbridge on bass, Ollie Rudge on keyboards and Steven Johnson and Ed Stokes on the piano.
