St Bede's Soccer Six National Runners Up

a2om ISFA SENIOR SIX-A-SIDE NATIONAL FINAL

Repton School hosted the ISFA's oldest tournament, the a2om ISFA Six-a-Side Tournament, on 5th September.

St Bede’s came through the group stage as leaders of group D, after beating King’s Chester 1-0; Alleyn’s 1-0 ; Grange 4-1 and losing to group runners up Ardingly 0-1.

In the knock out stages St Bede’s met Chigwell in the Quarter-Finals, and emerged victorious. St Bede's School 3-Chigwell 0.

This was followed by a tough Semi-Final against Charterhouse which ended Charterhouse 0 - St Bede's School 0, but St Bede’s went through after a penalty shoot out.

This left St Bede’s to face the home team, with its enthusiastic supporters. In the final. Johnny Gorman, who had returned from representing Northern Ireland in a European Championship qualifier just two days earlier, gave Repton a first half lead, but this was soon cancelled out by an equally fine equaliser from Bayan Fenwick for St Bede's. There was no further scoring in normal time and, as the game progressed, Repton were to become increasingly indebted to their goalkeeper, Oliver West, as for the first time in the tournament, they found themselves matched by their opponents.

However, in extra time, it was Gorman once again who played in Kieran Fenton with a through ball which he finished clinically to give Repton the Cup and delight a sizeable home crowd.

Final: Repton 2 - St Bede's School 1 after extra-time
