St Bede's U14 Boys Hockey Sussex County Champions
The boys from St Bede's went one step further this week, adding the Sussex County Trophy to their East Sussex Trophy.
The final, played at Lewes Hockey Club between Seaford College and St Bede's, was very even throughout the game with St Bede's scoring first through a brilliant shot from the right side of the circle by Tim Cairns. Seaford came back to equalise but St Bede's drove straight down to the other end to take a 2-1 lead via a short corner hit by Eoin Bloor. With minutes remaining and St Bede's on the attack they should have scored as it was a one on one with the goal keeper, However, Seaford cleared their lines and scored with the last touch of the game to take the cup final into strokes. Again the scores were level with one stroke left for St Bede's to take and Tim Cairns stepped up to score and give the title to St Bede's.
Both teams worked hard and will both progress to the Regionals on the 11 March in Surrey; where they will do battle against all of the best of the South's schools for a place in the National Schools Competition.
