St Bede's U16 Boys are East Sussex Hockey Champs

The U16 Boys East Sussex County Hockey Tournament held at St Bede's, Upper Dicker, on the 3rd February was won by the hard working St Bede's team that will now go on, firstly to meet Hurstpierpoint in the East vs West Final on Tuesday the 9th February at Lewes Hockey Ground, and then travel to Kingston or Surbiton on March the 9th for the quarter finals of the EH South Schools Cup.

The day was made up of a round robin tournament with each team playing 4 games. St Bede's beat Sackville in their first match 1-0 and then drew with Beacon 0-0 after having 12 shots at goal without converting. Coming into the game against Eastbourne the team knew that, with Eastbourne College having won 2 of their games already,a loss would be the end of the tournament for St Bede's. Pat Skinner opened the scoring with a brilliant flick over the oncoming Goal Keeper (1-0) and Jack Adelston completed the scoring with a fine shot off a short corner, final score 2-0 to St Bede's. The last game for St Bede's was against Lewes Old Grammar and a win would mean that they would be East Sussex County Champions and a draw or loss would bring other teams into the running. Within the first 5 minutes Jack Adelston scored off a short corner and again 6 minutes later, then Pat Skinner putting the finishing touches to a very impressive performance, final score 3-0 and St Bede's were crowned East Sussex County Champions.

St Bedes are current holders of the U14 Boys East Sussex trophy, the U15 Girls County Trophy , U16 Boys East Sussex Trophy, U19 Girls County Champions and the U18 Boys County Champions.
