St Bede's girls selected for Hockey Development Academy
In the true style of the St Bede's girl hockey players, three of our girls showed fantastic drive and determination and have been selected to take part in The Hockey Development Academy: Jade Beacroft (Year 7), Danni Marshall (Year 7) and Abbi Quinn (Year 8).
The Hockey Development Academy (based at The Eastbourne Hockey Club in the Saffrons) is a national programme which is administered at county level all over the country. The Club asks schools to send boys and girls to a weekly training session for three weeks. After this, they are selected to go on to further trials. The process of selection is by no means easy and so the girls should feel truly proud that they were chosen from about 60/70 U13 girls. Indeed this achievement is made all the more impressive given that two of the girls, Jade and Danni, were aged only 10 at the time of selection.
To be offered an opportunity like this is rare and one can only assume that with this kind of county experience partnered with the girls' tenacity and resolve it will lead to good things - we watch Jade's, Danni's and Abbi's progress with excitement.
