Success at Glyndebourne for St Bede's pupils
Following on from their success in fifteen performances at Glyndebourne over the summer, five girls from St Bede's Prep School have been chosen to take part in the autumn tour of Hänsel und Gretel. The opera, sung in German, is a modern take on Humperdinck's magical fairytale and has been a success since its premier over 100 years ago.
The girls (Cristina Ruffle, Sally Wild, Annabel Rudden, Hannah Roberts and Lauren Anderson) are very excited about performing five shows at Glyndebourne again commencing on 23 October, and are looking forward to singing in Woking, Stoke-on Trent, Milton Keynes, Norwich and Plymouth throughout November.
Mr Colin Hughes, Director of Music, said, "This has been a fantastic opportunity for the girls and they have worked incredibly hard in the rehearsals and risen to the challenge. I am very proud of them and they have certainly proved themselves worthy of this wonderful stage".
