Lessons

Lessons comprise English Skills, Language Workshops and School Subjects which combine to create a varied and balanced academic experience in which students not only develop their language skills but also study school subjects. This course is ideal for students who are seeking an alternative intensive English course, for those who are looking to expand their knowledge in certain school subjects and for those joining a British boarding school.

English Skills

  • 12½ hours of General English Skills per week
  • 5 levels (from pre-intermediate to advanced)
  • Entry test on arrival
  • Many classes have 10-12 students; maximum class size is 14.
  • Our syllabus offers varied, current and meaningful topics to engage and motivate students.
  • Teachers are suitably qualified according to the criteria of Accreditation UK.
  • English skills lessons work on all 4 language skills and include grammar work and vocab extension.
  • Communicative methodology where students participate actively
  • Enjoyable activities to encourage confidence in speaking more fluently
  • Weekly progress checks carried out by teacher
  • End-of-course report and certificate

Language Workshops

  • 5 x 1 hr language workshops per week
  • Maximum class size of 14
  • Workshops allow students to develop specific aspects of the English language according to their individual needs and wishes
  • There will be a choice of workshops to choose from every day.
  • Workshops may include: Debating, Essay Writing, Formal/Informal language, Interpreting Graphs, Phrasal Verbs, Presentations, Pronunciation, Punctuation, Spelling, Vocab Building

School Subjects

  • 12½ hours of school subjects per week where students will expand their academic knowledge in the subject and improve their English skills.
  • Students will study their school subjects in one of three academic levels according to their age: Pre-GCSE, GCSE or A Level.
  • A level students will be able to choose their school subjects but no subject choice can be guaranteed.
  • Suitably qualified teachers who have experience teaching in a secondary school environment
  • Maximum class size of 14
  • Extra English as a school subject will be available to those students seeking an intensive English language programme.
  • Homework may be given by some teachers
  • School subjects may include: Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Design Technology, Economics, Geography, Maths, Media Studies, Physics
