Exams

Gaining an internationally recognised English language qualification is a great way of showing how good your English has become. St Bede's offers 3 exams: Cambridge PET and FCE and the TOEIC Test.

PET
The Cambridge PET (Preliminary English Test) is a qualification that shows a student can deal with everyday written and spoken English at an Intermediate level.
  • Students must have an Intermediate level (B1) before the course starts
  • Students' level will be checked before an exam place is confirmed
  • Available at Dicker and Lancing
  • Students must enrol on a 3 or 4 week course
  • Decicated Exam Preparation (25 or 35 hours) instead of Language Activities and Project Lessons
  • Exam taken in week 4 (22-28 July 2012) at Dicker centre
  • Students' progress is monitored by an Exam Coordinator
  • A 3-week exam course costs £300 and a 4-week exam course costs £400
FCE (First Certificate)
The Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English) is a qualification that shows a student is becoming skilled in English. It confirms that a student can use English at an Upper Intermediate level for study and in the world of work.
  • Students must have an Upper Intermediate level (B2) before the course starts
  • Students' level will be checked before an exam place is confirmed
  • Available at Dicker and Lancing
  • Students must enrol on a 3 or 4 week course
  • Decicated Exam Preparation (25 or 35 hours) instead of Language Activities and Project Lessons
  • Exam taken in week 4 (22-28 July 2012) at Dicker centre

TOEIC (Listening & Reading) Test
TOEIC is an internationally-recognised qualification based on real-life work situations in an international context.
  • Students must have an Upper Intermediate level (B2) before the course starts
  • Available at Discover Cambridge
  • Students must enrol on a 2 week course minimum
  • TOEIC Practice sessions are available in place of Language Workshops
  • Exam is taken at an external testing venue in Cambridge
  • Exam dates are: 3rd and 17th August 2012
  • Exam Fee £100
