Lessons

Lessons comprise English Skills, Language Workshops and Academic Lectures which combine to create a varied and balanced academic experience in which students not only develop their language skills but also study university subjects. This course is ideal for students who are seeking an alternative intensive English course and also for those who are looking to expand their knowledge in certain academic subject areas.

English Skills

  • 8 hours of English Skills per week.
  • 4 levels (from Intermediate to Proficiency).
  • Entry test on arrival.
  • Many classes have 10-12 students; the maximum class size is 14.
  • Our syllabus offers varied, current and meaningful topics to engage and motivate students.
  • Teachers are suitably qualified according to the criteria of Accreditation UK.
  • English Skills lessons work on all 4 language skills and include grammar work and vocab extension.
  • Communicative methodology where students participate actively.
  • Enjoyable activities to encourage confidence in speaking more fluently.
  • Weekly progress checks carried out by teacher.
  • End-of-course report and certificate.

Language Workshops

  • 5 x 1 hr workshops per week.
  • Maximum class size of 14.
  • Workshops allow students to develop specific aspects of the English language according to their individual needs and wishes
  • There will be a choice of workshops to choose from every day.
  • Workshops may include: Debating, Essay Writing, Formal/Informal language, Interpreting Graphs, Phrasal Verbs, Presentations, Pronunciation, Punctuation, Spelling, Vocab Building

Academic Lectures

  • 12 hours of Academic Lectures per week.
  • Students will study 3 different subjects per week and they will be able to change their subjects on a weekly basis.
  • Subject choices cannot be guaranteed.
  • All lectures will be taught in English and there will be 20 students maximum per lecture.
  • Lectures will be academically pitched at year university level (undergraduate).
  • Suitably qualified lecturers who have experienced teaching on undergraduate courses.
  • Homework may be given by some lecturers.
  • Academic Lectures may include: Computing, Film Studies, Finance, International Business, Law, Management, Marketing, Media Communications, Theatre Studies
