Sports, Activities & Clubs
The afternoon sports and activities programme helps students learn new vocabulary as well as develop the language of social interaction and increase oral communication skills.
- Students enjoy doing many different activities, sports and games because they are having fun but at the same time, they are developing their language skills – it is the natural way to learn.
- Organised sports and activities take place every afternoon apart from excursion days.
- Sometimes students choose an activity, sometimes there are whole-school events and sometimes the staff will make teams to mix the students up and encourage them to meet new people.
- Some activities may be off-site (such as bowling, mountain biking, laser quest, roller skating) in which case transport will be provided.
- Sometimes there are limited numbers for certain activities (such as archery or swimming) in which case students will be asked to sign up beforehand.
- Students must participate in afternoon sports & activities as it is part of the programme – it is not free time!
- All sports and activities are supervised by St Bede’s staff with the recommended staff:student ratios.
