Tennis County Champs

St Bede’s Prep School has had a fantastic year on the tennis courts. One hundred and fifty tennis players have either competed or enjoyed playing the game, from the Nursery through to Year 8.

The beginning of the year saw a trip to La Manga in Spain for 18 of St Bede’s most promising juniors to practice in the La Manga Tennis Academy. La Manga Resort is the training ground for many international tennis teams including GB. The week was hot and exhausting but great fun! Everyone enjoyed the experience and hopefully reaped the rewards over the year.

A team of 16 of St Bede’s best players went to the IAPS Nationals in Hertfordshire, where they had great success! Naomi Jackson reached the finals, a fantastic feat. Naomi and Polly McCarthy then reached the finals of the Under 11 doubles!

In the Sussex County Championships, run over the summer on the most fantastic grass courts of Devonshire Park, the St Bede’s pupils recorded some great wins...

Oliver Morriss has continued to shine not only at St Bede’s but all over the country, as has Polly McCarthy, who has competed for Sussex. A new name to watch out for, from within our ranks, Saffi Dowse, aged 8. She has recently been talent spotted by the LTA as a possible superstar, and attends regular training sessions in London.
