Trip to Goodwood Sculpture Park

Trip to Goodwood Sculpture Park by Bea Hemmings, Year 7

On Tuesday 10th May Year 7 went to Goodwood Sculpture Park in West Sussex. It was a long journey, but it was worth it because the sculptures were amazing. Some of them were simple in their design but very creative. For example, a sculpture called No 43 was a series of coloured metal cubes placed around a clearing in the woods.

One of my favourite sculptures was called ‘Papperazzi’ which was a number of cameras with long bird’s legs attached to them! I liked the fact that the sculptor had put together two completely different objects to make one- one man-made and the other from a bird. The overall effect was like a flock of hungry birds following their prey.

Another sculpture called’ Exotic Tree’ was made up of lots of people made out of metal. I thought that this was interesting as it was hard to tell whether they were people or twigs and branches.

I really enjoyed the experience and felt inspired to make some of my own sculpture. We had a brilliant day.
