Trip to the town hall

As part of their PSHE studies, Year 3 pupils from St Bede's Prep School were lucky enough to visit Greg Szanto, The Mayor of Eastbourne.

The visit started with a tour of the Town Hall, where the children saw the Assembly Hall, which houses paintings of Mayors past and present. Next the children had the opportunity to act as councillors, with the Mayor in his rightful seat, showing the children how he restore order at the meetings with his gavel!

The children were then taken to the Mayor's Parlour where they watched him being dressed in his finery. They were most excited to be able to have their photo taken with him and sign the visitors' book.

It was a very informative visit, which the children enjoyed greatly.

A donation was made by St Bede's School to support the Mayor's chosen charity, The Alzheimer's Society.
