Watch out Wimbledon, St Bede's are coming
Watch out for Wimbledon in 10 or so years time – it could just be a year for a British victory, if the tennis talent emerging from St Bede’s Prep School is anything to go by.
The Lawn Tennis Association has county development officers across the country, and one of their prime tasks is to spot young children who are showing real flair for the sport.
A number of St Bede’s pupils were spotted by Sussex development officer, Keith Pullen, playing in the ‘Kid’s Zone’ at the International Ladies Pre Wimbledon Tournament at Devonshire Park in June. Keith asked to visit the school and watch the pupils during training sessions and now 12 St Bede’s girls and boys are on the LTA ‘books’.
Keith praised the School’s tennis programme, describing it as: ‘Unique and quite fantastic and a great environment for developing future tennis stars’.
