Year 3 trip to the Mayor's Parlour

This term Year 3 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School have been learning about local government in their PSHE lessons and recently had the opportunity to visit the Town Hall and meet our Mayor, Councillor Greg Szanto, to see how government actually works at a local level.

The children were greeted by Councillor Szanto and the Council's official Mace-Bearer, Nigel, who showed them around the Town Hall, including inside the Mayor's Parlour, and treated them to an interesting overview of the history of the building. The children were also able to view the Mayor's official robes, his chain and many other interesting artefacts housed in his Parlour.
