Year 4 visit the Brighton Sea-Life Centre
Year 4 pupils from St Bede's Prep School spent a most enjoyable day at the Brighton Sea-Life Centre, gaining added value to their current Integrated Studies topic ‘Sea-Life'. The pupils were able to observe a great variety of sea animals at very close range and were even able to touch several of the rock-pool creatures such as crabs, starfish and sea-anemones.
The highlight of the day was watching large sting rays being fed, and learning so much about the two splendid ‘rescue' turtles who live at the centre; the pupils were surprised to learn that one was a meat-eater and the other a vegetarian - especially keen on eating broccoli and lettuce. He followed a friendly diver all around the pool in order to eat the tasty greens she was tempting him with!
A simulated submarine journey to the depths of the perilous ocean was also enjoyed, as well as the pupils being very pro-active in signing petitions against over-fishing and whaling.
