Year 5 Jarrow Crusade, Friday 1st October at 2.00pm
This Friday, 1st October, Year 5 are re-enacting the Jarrow March as part of their study of 1930's Britain in Integrated Studies. The children (and teachers) involved will be dressing up in flat caps and old clothes to act out the parts of the angry and embittered Jarrow dockyard workers who marched the 300 miles from Tyneside to London in October 1936 to protest against the closure of the shipyards. Come and support us if you are in the area, starting at 2pm from outside St Bede's Prep School and marching to the Hollow. You will spot us by our dress, by the banners we are carrying, and by the chanting of slogans to get our message across...
