Year 5 discover the ancient Egyptian way of life

It seemed a long way to go, but Year Five’s St Bede’s Prep School pupil’s recent trip to the British Museum in London was worth every moment. They went to see the Egyptian exhibition rooms in support of the Easter term’s I.S. studies. Short of a field trip to Egypt, this was the best way to get a ‘first-hand’ experience of the enormity, age and wonder of the ancient Egyptian way of life and the creation of their artefacts.

Not surprisingly, the Mummies were the greatest attraction, (not a Daddy in sight!). ‘Ginger’, the best preserved sand-buried Mummy ever found, confirmed the children’s sense of amazement.

Ever since, he has been referred to with genuine affection, almost as if he were a fellow member of Year Five!

The trip was followed by an Egyptian feast at school.
