Year 5 trip to the British Museum

On a beautiful sunny day that seemed to herald Spring, Year 5 pupils from St Bede’s Prep School sprang into their seats for a coach trip to the British Museum. They went to see the Egyptian exhibition rooms as part of their Easter term Integrated Studies. Short of a field trip to Egypt, this was the best way to get first-hand experience of the age and wonder of the ancient Egyptian artefacts and way of life. Not surprisingly, the Mummies were the greatest attraction (not a Daddy in sight!). Ginger, the best preserved sand-buried body, certainly captured the children's imagination, as did the gruesome methods for removing internal organs and the brain before embalming. The trip will be followed by an authentic ancient Egyptian feast; the food however will be fresh!
