Year 6 Gifted and Talented day

St Bede’s first ever Gifted and Talented Day for local Year 6 Primary School pupils, was a busy and successful day, with 56 pupils from seven schools spending the day at the school.

The day was divided into four activities and four groups of 14 pupils rotated through exciting and inspiring challenges. English was a fantastic exploration of simile, metaphor and onomatopoeia using different tastes. Maths comprised a study of 3D shapes and all the pupils were able to make very clever tetrahendron boxes to take home and in Science they constructed water-bottle rockets that shot into the air in a very satisfying way. The Languages team provided short and very entertaining interactive activities in any three of French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese or Ancient Greek.

St Bede’s Year 7 Buddies looked after all the visitors beautifully in the morning and at lunchtime and the Prefects greeted the parents in the afternoon. All the visiting pupils seemed to have had a wonderful day, and the two visiting teachers who accompanied their pupils were most impressed.
