Year 6 trip to see 'The Railway Children'

Year 6 with accompanying staff were ‘minibussed’ down from school to Eastbourne Station to embark on their theatre outing to The Railway Children. After a trouble free trip, which included a change at Clapham junction, we arrived at our destination, Waterloo Station.

The production itself was staged at the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station, with the main part of the stage being formed by platforms which were moved along the track.

The production as a whole was faultless. Staging, costuming, acting, props and lighting were all managed to perfection. We were even treated to the appearance of a steam train!!

The performance finished just in time for us to face rush hour at Clapham Junction. This could easily have been a potentially alarming situation but Yr 6 did us proud. They listened to, and adhered to, every instruction. Indeed, throughout the whole day their behaviour was exemplary which added to the sheer joy of the whole day.

All our thanks go to Mrs Adams who organized the whole trip, and to Mrs Brundle who led it as Mrs Adams was unable to attend. Thanks too, to the staff who accompanied the trip; Mr Sutherland, Mrs Rayner, Mr Brewer, Miss Byrne Mrs Todman and Miss Corris.
