Pre-prep nursery

Nursery

The Nursery is situated within the School and comprises of two bright classrooms, a large activity room and a cosy playroom. 

The Nursery is divided in to three age groups as follows:

  • N1 Buttercups - 2-2 ½ approximately
  • N2 Butterflies – approximately 2 ½ - 3+
  • N3 Buzzy Bees and Ladybirds 3+ (Pre-school year)

Sessions
The Nursery is open during the School term from 8:30am – 5:45pm.

We encourage children to attend for a minimum of two sessions building to five sessions during the Pre-school year.  Session schedules are as follows:-

  • Session A    8.30 – 12 noon
  • Session B    8.30 – 2.00pm
  • Session C    8.30 – 3.45pm
  • Session D    8.30 – 4.30pm
  • Session E    8.30 – 5.45pm

Afternoon-only sessions can be arranged on an individual basis.

Healthy snacks are provided during the sessions and a cooked two-course lunch for those who wish to stay.  The nutritious meals are prepared on site and we are able to meet most dietary needs your child may have.

Staffing
Our staff are all experienced and qualified. The minimum staff to pupil ratio required for Nursery children is as follows:

  • 1:4 for 2 year olds
  • 1:8 for 3+

Rich Curriculum
Our provision enables our pupils to explore the educational programme for the Foundation Stage which is divided in to six equal areas of study:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development

Pupils at St Bede’s Prep also benefit from the facilities and specialist teachers within the whole School:

  • Sports hall lessons – generously equipped large hall
  • Swimming  - indoor heated pool
  • Music – class and individual lessons
  • Dance – mirrored and sprung floor studio

Pupils can also attend the following clubs:

  • French
  • Tennis
  • Tap

Transition
The Pre-school children have plenty of opportunities to meet their future Reception class teacher and visit their new classrooms.  During the Summer term they will start to join the Reception class for weekly assemblies as well as some activities and story time sessions.  There will also be occasions for parents to meet with future teachers.
