Dear Parents
Following our Bank Holiday Leave Out, we have enjoyed a fantastic sunny week. Tuesday saw a non scoring athletics fixture against Holmewood House involving over fifty of our pupils, with many fine performances. Wednesday’s St Bede’s Rounders Tournament and cricket fixtures against St Andrew’s were blessed with wonderful weather and involved twelve St Bede’s teams in all. It was pleasing to see six cricketing wins which included the 1st - 5th XI’s! Our Year 8 pupils have been hard at work completing one of the most nerve-wracking elements of their CE, the French oral, and it has been great to see how well most have approached this. I am delighted by some of the high standards that have been reached. Our LEGAT dancers have been taking part in their final dress rehearsals and then the performances of the LEGAT show, which I am very much looking forward to seeing tonight.
Meanwhile, Year 6 pupils have been performing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with the second performance for parents tomorrow at 11:30. Do come along if you missed this afternoon’s performance – it has been a great production for which I congratulate all of Year 6 as well as Mrs Brown, Mr Hughes and, above all, Ms Wild who has been directing. Yesterday saw the Wiser Words visit for selected pupils in Years 7 and 8, which was enjoyable and very intellectually stimulating. We also had the school photo first thing and I must congratulate our pupils on looking so neat and following instructions so well. It was by far the most efficient school photo I’ve taken part in and we hope you enjoy the results in due course - my thanks to Mrs Brown for making all the arrangements. In a busy afternoon of sport, we had an U12 cricket fixture against Uckfield, tennis against Cardinal Newman and girls’ cricket against Hastings Priory CC. This morning our Year 8 pupils have had their Common Entrance mental maths exam and later this afternoon we have an athletics fixture against St Andrew’s, Ashdown House and Brighton College. Next week, I know our Year 4 pupils are very much looking forward to their trip to the Isle of Wight and we also await the Year 3 production with anticipation!

Notices
- Summer Uniform starts on Monday. As previously advertised, this is the last term boys in the Prep School will be able to wear the green polo shirt, which will be replaced next year with a white short-sleeved shirt. Boys may wear a white shirt, short or long sleeved, for the remainder of this term if they wish. All pupils will need to wear blazers to school as usual.
We have had some complaints about the parking of St Bede’s parents in the two bus stops at Seaford. We would ask that all parents collecting their children from these stops park in a way that does not endanger children’s safety or annoy local residents!
For a list of next week's events please visit the Calendar.
I wish you all an enjoyable weekend!
Yours sincerely
Nicholas Bevington
