Lashings World XI at St Bede’s and launch of Pavilion fund

We have been offered the fantastic opportunity of the Lashings World XI team coming to the Senior School on Friday, June 27th to play our 1st XI. As you probably know, the Lashings team are all current Test Cricketers or ex international players and the team coming to St Bede’s will be captained by Richie Richardson and likely to include Alvin Kallicharran, Greg Blewett, Marvin Atapattu, Devon Malcolm, Chris Cairns, Phil Defreitas, Chris Harris, Nantie Hayward and Peter Such.

This is the perfect occasion for the Senior School to launch fund raising for a Pavilion.

The day will begin at 12.30pm with a lunch in our new Multi Purpose Sports Hall, attended by the Lashings team and with Lashings organising a compère, a silent auction, professional comedians, a raffle and much, much more.  All the players will be happy to sign any memorabilia you might wish to bring and there will be plenty of opportunity to mingle with them.  The day will certainly provide an excellent vehicle for corporate entertainment.

Match play will begin at 2.30pm and there will be afternoon tea.  If rain should stop play then we will set up the cricket nets in the hall and you might even have a chance to test your batting against one of the ‘stars’.

We do hope that you will join us for this very special event. Tickets for the day are £50 and a table of 10 (which can include a Lashings star if you wish, allocated on a first come, first served basis) is £500.  We are also looking for a main sponsor to contribute £5000 to the running of the day.  Included in this sponsorship would be a table of 10 for lunch, facilities to put up an exhibition stand and any signage around the pitch.  We also hope that someone will be happy to sponsor ‘Man of the Match’ for £1500 to include a table for ten and likewise match ball.

Potentially, the sum of money the School would hope to raise from the lunch, auctions and sponsorship will form a magnificent start to the Pavilion Fund.
