Year 5's production of The Tempest
19 March 2008
The recent Year 5 Production of The Tempest at St Bede’s Prep School was a great success. Both Fred Dimbleby and Nathan Horsman played Prospero on alternate nights, heading up an all-singing, all-dancing cast. Highlights included a stage full of sailors dancing through a storm, some serious villainy from Hannah Hunt and Sam Hannah as Antonio, and a kitsch seventies-tinged romance played excellently by Hannah Roberts/Alice Potter as Miranda and George Pantrey/Jake Friedman-Kenshole as Ferdinand. However, there were many others who shone in their roles, and the whole cast deserve praise for their commitment, skills and enthusiasm they brought to the performance. The play was directed by Mr Bryant (who also wrote additional music), and produced by the Year 5 teachers. The children worked extremely hard on the play, and enjoyed being involved in the production. Mr Bryant said afterwards "it was a tremendous effort by everyone which resulted in a great success. I hope that it was as fun and as memorable to work on for the children as it was for me and my colleagues." The Year 5 teachers are very grateful to all the parents who helped to produce such an array of costumes.
