Rock group day
26 September 2008
While traditional music - both sacred and secular - continues to be an important part of what we do, acoustic instruments were merrily cast aside, amplifiers plugged in and snare drums tightened in preparation for last Tuesday's morning Rock Session in the Prep School. 13 pupils from Years 7 and 8 formed two bands and spent an exciting two hours rehearsing under the guidance of experienced band performers. They were given tips on how to practise and perform as a group, while having fun and improving at the same time. A short concert was given upstairs in the Music School to an intimate audience but - watch this space - as they will be performing to the public in upcoming events later this term. These two bands will be leading the way in next term's Rock Day in which we are aiming to have 50 children.
