Swimmers achieve personal bests at the Early Bird

The Crawley Early Bird Long Course Open meet was the first competition of the season for the senior St Bede's swimming squad. Although all were very tired at this early stage of the season as the training schedule is particularly hard, the squad acquitted themselves well. All of the swimmers were hitting personal best times, finishing in top 10 places and there were even a few
medals to be had and these were taken as follows:
- Stephanie Ketley (aged 15) 1st for 200m Free (2.11.73), 400m Free (4.35.62), 2nd 100m Free (1.02.30) and 3rd 100m Back (1.10.81), 200m Back (2.29.79)
- Harriet Lambourne (15) 1st 200m Fly (2.28.27), 2nd 50m Fly (31.24) and 3rd 100m Fly (1.07.89)
- Katherine Horsfall-Turner (11) 2nd 200m Fly (2.59.15), 2nd 400m IM (6.15.95) and 3rd 100m Fly (1.22.88)
- Cristina Richards (13) 3rd 400m IM (5.40.76)
- Michael Faber aged 16 and swimming in the top age group of 16 + took 3rd for 200m Free (2.01.39) and 400m Free (4.17.81) along with nine other top 8 finishes and six personal best times.
After his performance at the National Championships, Michael has also recently been selected by the ASA for their AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) programme.
St Bede's swimmers also finishing in the top 10 were Mary Carless (14), Rebekah Chapman (13), Anthony White (16), Nick Ayers (17), and Andrew Horsfall-Turner (14). Eve Carless (12) also swum personal best times.
