Does St Bede’s require an entrance test?
No, entrance is based on reports and, where applicable, interview with the Headmaster, though many students entering in Year 9 have sat Common Entrance.
What are the average class sizes?
At GCSE classes average 16, at A level they average 12
Must students have a laptop?
A laptop is necessary for students studying GCSE and A level ICT and Computer Science. It is also helpful for students with some learning difficulties and very helpful for all students for written coursework. Preps produced on computer are accepted by staff, but it should be noted that most students will be handwriting in examinations.
How many students are in School at the weekends?
Over half the boarding community.
Is there an extra charge for activities?
Most activities are included in the basic fees, but some such as horse-riding, sailing etc are charged out. If students are involved in activities that require materials, such as woodwork, jewellery making etc, the materials are added to the bill at the end of term.
Do all students have to take part in sport?
No, but we do ask that everyone chooses at least one physical activity a week. This can be swimming, Downland walking or mountain biking or indeed many more.
Can I choose which House my son or daughter goes into?
Normally we allocate the House, but will always listen to particular requests.
Can special diets be catered for?
Yes.
What is the medical provision on site?
A School nurse lives on site and the doctor visits when necessary

There can be over 50 different nationalities represented at St Bede’s, many of these students are in our Sixth Form.
How many students join St Bede’s for the Sixth Form?
Around 25% of our LVIth will be new to the School
