A Level Results
The Sciences, English Literature and Art were big contributors to St Bede’s outstanding A level results in 2007 - 70.43% A-B.

The School’s scientists with Oxbridge offers all secured their places. Head Boy Jason Adebisi is now reading Molecular and Cellular Bio-Chemistry at Oxford, whilst James Brister and Nick Gates are both reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge. Both James and Nick achieved five grade A’s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths.

Twins James and Matthew Aldred who have both represented England at U19 football achieved seven A’s and one B between them and will study Sports degrees at Loughborough.

Anthony Schneider achieved five A’s including Music, but has decided not to take up his Oxford offer and instead return to his native New Zealand.

Students gained 13 grade A’s in English Literature and Clare Dunstall from Heathfield and Moira Garden from Tonbridge are both going on to study English at Exeter and King’s College respectively.

Other excellent results include 100% A-B in Dance, Music and Performing Arts, a fantastic achievement which places St Bede’s very firmly in the top rank for performing arts.

As always incredible results were achieved in Art, 25 grade A’s, reinforcing St Bede’s position as one of the best schools for Art in the South of England.

A total of 128 students sat A levels this year and 12 achieved straight A’s. Director of Studies Sarah Quinn said: ‘These are St Bede’s best ever A level results and although we had high expectations of this year group, they have exceeded our expectations.

GCSE Results
St Bede’s celebrated yet another rise in its students’ GCSE performances in 2007, particularly in the core subjects.

Pass rate at A-C was 88%, up two per cent on 2006 and the pass rate at A-A* was up 3% to 32% with a number of students gaining straight A’s.

Core subjects such as Maths, English and Double Science saw excellent results with 80%, 93% and 87% respectively gaining A-C.

As always St Bede’s students did stunningly well in the Languages with French, German, Italian, Chinese, Russian, Greek and Latin all achieving 100% A-C grades. Other subjects with a 100% pass rate A-C were Business Vocation, Dance, Music, Photography and Textiles.
