Performing Arts

St Bede's offers a very wide range of theatrical experience with formal drama classes, exam preparation and drama clubs. In addition, we are home to the Legat Professional Dance Course.

We have several purpose-built drama studios and two large dance studios, and we produce three major productions and many smaller ones each year. We tour regularly and our productions bring together actors, artists, musicians and dancers, extending everyone's experience.

We also offer students the chance to learn different aspects of theatre such as direction, lighting, sound, costume and stage management.

Students following the Legat Professional Dance Course also study a full range of academic subjects and qualifications within a normal school environment. The course covers all dance disciplines: Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz and Tap. In addition to taking part in School productions, Legat students regularly give studio performances as well as an annual professional performance. Students can also study dance to both GCSE and Advanced levels.

In the Sixth Form, students can take Theatre Studies at A Level or follow an AVCE Vocational A Level course in the Performing Arts.
