Unaccompanied Minors
If your son or daughter is travelling by aeroplane alone, most major airlines offer a service called Unaccompanied Minors - or UMs for short. This service means that the Airline staff will take care of the child from check-in and they will deliver him/her personally to St Bede's staff on arrival in England.
When booking this service, the airline will ask you for the name of the person collecting the child in England and for that staff member's contact details. Since we do not know exactly who will be collecting the children at this stage, please follow the following procedure:
- Give the airline staff the name of the Director of Summer School
- Mr. Steven Wood - Give the office telephone number (+44 1323 443 818)
and the Emergency mobile number (+44 7891 148 411)
The Director will then give the staff member collecting the student a signed letter of authorisation, giving the staff member official authorisation to collect the student on the Director's behalf.
Please note that airlines such as Easyjet and RyanAir do not offer a UM service and therefore, children under a certain age will not be allowed to travel without an adult. Please check with your airline for further information.
If you require any further clarification about this, please contact us.
