Who will meet me at the airport?
A member of St Bede’s staff will meet you at the airport. They will be standing at the arrivals exit. They will be holding a sign with your name on it and they will be wearing their green St Bede’s T-shirts.
What will the weather be like?
The weather in England during the summer is usually quite warm and temperatures can reach about 25°C. It can rain, though, so don’t forget your rain jacket just in case!
Will I need a travel adaptor?
Yes. If you bring electrical items with a different plug from the one we use in England, you will need an adaptor. We sell some adaptors at St Bede’s.
What different nationalities will there be?
There will be lots of different nationalities at St Bede’s because children come from over 20 different countries. The perfect way to practise your English!
Will I have to share my bedroom with someone I don’t know?
There are some single bedrooms but most students will share with 1 or more students from a different country. Hopefully you will become good friends with your room mate!
Will my English get better?
Yes. You will not only learn and practise English in the classroom, but also during sports, activities, excursions and during your free time. You will be speaking English all day long.
What will the English lessons be like?
The lessons may be different to those which you have had in your home country. The class sizes are small so you will get a lot of individual care and attention from the teacher. You will also be able to do lots of pair work and group work. All of our teachers are qualified and many of them work overseas so are used to working with international students. In all of the lessons, active participation is a must!
Will I like the food?
The food will be different from home but we hope there will always be something you like on the menu. There are always choices at St Bede’s.
What happens if I get sick?
If you get sick, our school nurse or first-aid staff will decide whether you need to see a doctor. In an emergency, we will always call an ambulance.
