English Lessons
Studying English is truly valuable if you can use what you learn, so the objective of the English classes is to focus on communication skills and on increasing fluency. Classes are very important at Summer School; students must arrive on time and work hard.
English lessons have:
- Entry test on arrival
- 8 levels from Beginner to Advanced
- Maximum class size of 12
- Qualified teachers
- Work on a mixture of language skills with emphasis on speaking and oral fluency
- Focus on learning everyday, useful language
- Interactive style of teaching; active participation is expected
- Many enjoyable activities to encourage confidence in speaking more fluently
- Weekly progress checks
- Departure certificate and report from teacher
Advanced English Course at Eastbourne:
- Only available at Eastbourne centre
- Separate, high-level English classes for learners with advanced language skills
- The objective is to develop reading and writing skills - style, audience, register, range and accuracy
- Lessons similar to English classes in regular main-stream schools
- Small groups of maximum 8 students to ensure lots of individual attention
- Ideal for bi-lingual students and those who study their school subjects in English
- Separate placement test on arrival to ensure students meet course criteria
- Students join other students for the remainder of the programme
